Beni’s Striped Flatwoven Rugs Invite A Splash Of Color

A study in color theory, the unexpected tonal combinations of Chroma I toy with the viewer’s perception. Beni’s 11 striped patterns in the collection were loosely inspired by Ellsworth Kelly’s 1951 work Spectrum of Colors Arranged by Chance. The vibe is earthy and sun-kissed, the palette reflecting a play between muted goldenrod and more saturated shades of orange and pomegranate, all placed against neutral oat or amber backgrounds. “Exploring how the colors interact with one another is what makes the designs so rhythmic,” says company artistic director Colin King. The flatwoven rugs, crafted in Morocco of humanely sheared live wool, are constructed in the Zahara (meaning “desert bloom”) method, a nod to the arid landscapes and unexpected beauty of the Sahara. benirugs.com

Designer Brandon Kershner Dreams Up A Distinct Outdoor Seat

It’s a real skill to craft outdoor perches that are tough but supple, primitive yet modern, artisanal yet high tech—contradictions embodied by Zahara. Designer Brandon Kershner, partner/VP of Azzurro Living, looked to the past to dream up the club chair’s distinctive silhouette—realized in the most enduring of contemporary materials. Master artisans weld, bend, weave, and finish the pieces by hand. The bronze powder-coated aluminum frame is strong and resilient, the shield-like back is handwoven of birch Textilene rope that resists wear and sagging, and the lush high-resiliency cushions are covered in outdoor performance fabric. Altogether, the chair can withstand rain, sleet, and wind—not to mention changing trends.

8 Designers Bringing Flair To The Kitchen & Bath Sphere

Step inside the world of these designers elevating the kitchen and bath through thoughtful craft and expressive design, blending warmth, beauty, and individuality.

Design Mavericks Reimagining Kitchen & Bath

Product: Isy22
Standout: Introduced to the U.S. market for the first time, Matteo Thun & Partners’ modular tap system for Zucchetti boasts fun finishes like this vibrant Mediterranean blue as well as two-tone options and marble-detailed models.

Product: Betty
Standout: The cofounders of Raw-Edges drew inspiration from a cherished family memory: Aunt Betty’s bold cement kitchen tiles, whose fluid yet graphic grid sparked the patterning of these 20cm ceramic modules for Mutina.

Product: Continuum
Standout: Shaped and rippled like a pond, this above-the-counter sink by the Borrowed Earth Collaborative founder, a self-taught sculptor, comes in five marble types including Taj White.

Elisa Ossino for Tubes

Product: I Ching
Standout: Heated towel rails have long been de rigueur abroad, and now the U.S. can get in on the trend with Italian designer Elisa Ossino’s lightweight, minimalist electric options in stainless steel for Tubes.

Francesco Lucchese for Fantini

Product: Torino
Standout: An exemplar of transitional style, these elegantly flat, tapered mixers by Francesco Lucchese for Fantini for washbasins, showers, and bathtubs come in a host of finishes, from chrome to matte black to gunmetal PVD.

Philippe Starck for Duravit

Matte Black Single-Handle Bathroom Faucet.

Product: Tulum
Standout: This faucet by Hall of Fame member Philippe Starck for Duravit, in three finishes including matte black, emphasizes strength and beauty through the pairing of a weighty, rounded faucet body with an attenuated rectangular spout.

Jean Nouvel for Reform

A kitchen with a white table and chairs.
Photography by Lorenz Cugini/vitra.

Product: Reflect
Standout: French architect Jean Nouvel’s kitchen line for Scandi manufacturer Reform has a mysteriously reflective quality, owing to its ridged, brushed stainless-steel cabinetry panels.

Alex Proba for Very Simple: Kitchen

The Sky’s The Limit For Dornbracht Atelier

Express yourself! That would make an apt motto for Dornbracht Atelier, an ambitious new business segment from the German manufacturer Dornbracht that offers architects and designers maximum creative freedom to envision uber-customized fittings by working with new and unusual materials, finishes, production techniques, and shapes. Specify faucets and handles in any color, like the vivid shades depicted here; in any PVD finish, including iridescent; and even with engraving. Measurements and functionality can be personalized, too, and handle and lever designs rendered utterly unique. Really, the sky’s the limit: You can even wrap a spout in black velvet or a mosaic of eggshells.

Elevate The Bathroom With Colorful Concrete Countertops

Talk about twice as nice. U.K. company Kast unveils a new category: handcrafted concrete countertops that form the ideal base for its line of colored sinks, both offered in a nuanced 28-hue palette. The streamlined wall-mount slabs and vanity tops can be spec’d in single- and double-basin formats, corner options, and wall shelves, all compatible across a wide selection of vessels, from square Arla to cylindrical Oska. “In recent years, we’ve seen growing demand for cohesive bathroom solutions,” says Kast creative director Amy Bartlett. “The countertop offerings open up new possibilities for color play, spatial flow, and personal expression.” Designs are crafted from a proprietary mix of locally sourced Derbyshire limestone and sand, mixed with high-grade pigments.

The Taroni Initiative Turning Textiles Into Living Art

Since 1880, Taroni has been synonymous with fine luxury silk, supplying haute couture ateliers and high-end fashion brands. This year, the Como, Italy-based textile house embraces the circular economy with Taroni Laboratorio, an initiative that reimagines discarded silk from the cutting room floor as vibrant home goods that bridge traditional craft and contemporary sensibilities. At its heart are floorcoverings born from a collaboration between Milan-based American artist Lillian Grant and Italian-Moroccan manufacturer Casa Amar that employ centuries-old Amazigh weaving techniques. In some, silk knots are painstakingly hand-tied onto fine wool warps—occasionally interwoven with wool fibers to temper the silk’s inherent sheen. Other pieces take a different approach: Premium silk remnants are sliced into ribbons and woven using the Boucherouite technique, a practice that emerged in the 1950s specifically for transforming repurposed textiles into functional art.
