Wentrcek Zebulon Launches Outdoor Seating Company
New York design practice Wentrcek Zebulon typically shows its one-of-a-kind avant-garde furnishings in highbrow galleries. Now, the studio sets its sights on larger-scale production with the launch of Sun Set, a new outdoor seating company that manufactures its wares domestically. The brand’s debut product, Lounge 500, is made in Pennsylvania and Ohio using closed-mold fiberglass fabrication. The chair’s blocky space-age curves recall the bucket seat of a 1950’s car, with a leather-look seat and back pads of marine-grade UltraFabrics upholstery that secure by way of magnets. The six nostalgic hues on offer, from minty pea-soup green to brown-black, are made via a process used in automotive manufacturing that embeds a tinted gel coat into the resin itself, producing a glossy and UV-stable surface that won’t fade, peel, or crack over time. sun-set.us
